Fiber and opportunities in Industrial and Artisanal Areas.

Fiber optics will replace copper, where it has not already done so, for all types of customers, both residential and business, and in all geographical settings, be they large cities, medium or small towns , rural hamlets. The main beneficiaries will be businesses located in Industrial and Artisanal Areas (AIAs), where the performance of the copper network is largely inferior to that available in urban centers.

It is estimated that of the 14k AIAs in Italy*:

  • About 16 % do not have Ultra Broadband services on fixed line network and rely on DSL/FWA technology
  • About 48% have connections of less than 30 Mbps download

FibreConnect is helping to bridge the digital divide that still exists through Ultra Broadband services, made possible by a super-fast, reliable and sustainable proprietary fiber network.

Transmission speed

A network made entirely of fiber enables transmission speeds of up to 100Gbps, one or several orders of magnitude higher than those possible with a copper or mixed fiber-copper network, which is critical for applications such as cloud access, data storage or data back-up.

While connections are typically provided in asymmetrical mode for copper networks, the very high bandwidth available on fiber optics makes it possible, depending on the traffic profile chosen, to take advantage of symmetrical profiles, that is, to have equal download and upload speeds.

Reliability

Fiber optics are inherently more reliable than copper, as they are immune to weathering, electromagnetic interference and low insulation.

Combining the inherent reliability of fiber optics with a redundant network architecture, all FibreConnect services are delivered with a Service Level Agreement at the highest market levels.

The positive impact on the environment

Fiber optic infrastructure plays a major role against global warming of the planet. Fiber optic cable does not produce dispersion and needs low maintenance, while infrastructure does not require energy when used in transmission and, given its high reliability, is able to support the development and deployment of innovative digital services with reduced environmental impact ( smart working, smart city, distance learning,...).

FibreConnect is focused on achieving the internationally recognized Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Social Impact and Governance Responsibility.

Latency

The virtually unlimited bandwidth made available by FibreConnect's fiber optic network, by eliminating any form of contention between data packets, minimizes the 'time interval within which the signal reaches its final destination, optimizing the performance of all those services that require real time.
