InDRA (Distributed Intelligence for Advanced Networks) was created from a partnership led by Sapienza University of Rome together with Open Fiber, Huawei, Lutech, FibreConnect, and PTS. Objective: to ensure that services related to mobility and urban infrastructures become smart thanks to artificial intelligence placed at the service of citizens and businesses.

An investment of one million euros to carry out four pilot projects dedicated to the Smart City, focused on intelligent mobility and the advanced management of urban infrastructures: this is the core of the InDRA project (Distributed Intelligence for Advanced Networks).

The project was created through a partnership led by Sapienza University of Rome, together with Open Fiber, Huawei, Lutech, FibreConnect, and PTS, with the launch of a trial of Edge Cloud Computing (ECC) platforms installed in the nodes of Open Fiber’s fixed network (POP).

Edge Cloud Computing, it is worth recalling, is a model in which computing power, storage, and data management capabilities are brought close to where the data is generated, instead of sending everything to a distant data center or cloud.

The final objective is to ensure that services related to mobility and urban infrastructures become smart, thanks to artificial intelligence placed at the service of citizens and businesses.
