FibreConnect and Open Fiber together for the digital transition of Italian enterprises

24 July 2024 | Press release

Strategic partnership signed to foster the development of fiber optic connections for companies located in Industrial and Artisan Areas

Rome, July 24, 2024 – FibreConnect S.p.A., an independent operator offering high-performance connectivity services for businesses in Italy’s Industrial and Artisan Areas (AIAs), and Open Fiber, the largest FTTH fiber optic operator in Europe, have signed a strategic partnership to facilitate the digital transition of Italian businesses. By interfacing their respective networks, the two operators have initiated a collaboration aimed at increasing the coverage they are able to offer their customers, thereby optimizing investments and accelerating network development. Through this agreement, FibreConnect and Open Fiber will offer their respective Internet Service Provider (ISP) customers the opportunity to reach a larger pool of industrial and manufacturing districts with fiber connections. The agreement is of strategic importance for the country as businesses – especially SMEs – struggle to keep up with the digital transition and, consequently, to compete at the same levels as European companies. A fact that is reflected in ICT investments, which in Italy are mainly driven by large enterprises. An element, however, that contrasts sharply with the reality of our country, where the economic fabric is made up of about 5 million Small and Medium Enterprises, more than 70 percent of which are located in Industrial and Artisan Areas (AIAs) located outside urban centers.

“The partnership signed is of great importance because it represents an important example of collaboration: two operators, whose main objectives include business development in the Italian territory, have chosen to collaborate and complement each other’s coverage. Our customers will also be able to access the coverage guaranteed by Open Fiber outside industrial areas, just as Open Fiber’s customers will be able to access our coverage in industrial areas. We want to put as many businesses as possible in the best conditions to reap the benefits offered by the technology and, as a result, grow their business.”, comments Renzo Ravaglia, CEO and Co-Founder of FibreConnect.
