Thanks to the deployment of the fiber optic network by FibreConnect in less than 1 year
To over 35 thousand the share of SMEs benefiting from ultra broadband in industrial and craft areas.
Rome, Feb. 12, 2024 – FibreConnect, the independent Italian operator that offers high-performance and maximum reliability connectivity services for businesses in the Industrial and Artisan Areas (AIAs) on the Italian territory, announces the milestones it has achieved in its growth path about a year after starting operations. In line with its business plan aimed at the deployment of fiber optic networks in areas with poor coverage in terms of infrastructure and advanced ultra-wideband services, FibreConnect in 2023 made fiber available to 35,056 companies – located in 67 different Industrial and Artisan Areas distributed throughout the country – which can now take full advantage of the benefits offered by services such as cloud access or advanced cybersecurity solutions. Companies in these Areas can thus take advantage of high-speed services with symmetrical and, above all, guaranteed bandwidth, i.e., not shared with other network users, so as to enable the Digital Transformation processes affecting the entire production chain in our country. In addition to the access network in the 67 Industrial Areas, FibreConnect has also activated the long-distance network backbone that consists of about 4,000 km of fiber optics connecting 20 PoPs and the main national Internet Exchanges, equipped with very high-capacity transmission systems. Renzo Ravaglia, CEO and Co-Founder of FibreConnect, said:
“The results we have achieved are a confirmation of the validity of our strategic choice and investment in the network, and encourage us to continue our efforts to seize the enormous development potential of FibreConnect. As in all European countries, the digital growth trend in Italy is strongly positive, but there is still much to be done to close the gap that exists today between large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises in terms of access to ultrawideband. As part of the ecosystem that is equipping Italy with a network essential for our modernization, our commitment is aimed at creating an enabling infrastructure for the development of SMEs in Italy.”
There are about one million companies in Italy operating within the more than ten thousand AIAs, and these companies need the necessary tools to unlock their innovation potential. Many of them have Internet connection speeds of less than 15 Mbit/s. Bringing a modern FTTP (Fiber to the Premises) network to AIAs therefore enables small and medium-sized enterprises to take advantage of the latest connectivity solutions that are also crucial for them to give value to the investments made or planned in the directions of Industry 4.0.
