Tiscali and FibreConnect have signed an agreement that aims to bring ultrafast connectivity to Italy’s industrial and artisanal areas (AIAs).
FibreConnect, an operator that exclusively sells wholesale connectivity, will provide Tiscali with the ability to immediately reach thousands of small and medium-sized businesses in Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Lombardy and Puglia. Later the collaboration will be extended to other regions and will enable the Sardinian operator to extend coverage and expand the customer base of its business services.
According to the joint statement by FibreConnect and Tiscali, there are about one million businesses operating within the industrial and craft areas. The data mentioned in the ISTAT report “Enterprises and ICT” also says that only 13.2 percent of the SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) in Italy has access to services of ultra broadband connectivity of at least 1 Gigabit per second, while the remaining 82.8 percent rely on the less efficient broadband with performance of at least 30 Megabits per second.
