An important milestone for FibreConnect is the activation yesterday of the Milan – Rome route with a capacity of 600 Gbit/s, six hundred billion bits per second!!! “Just to give you an idea, it’s as if 10 million simultaneous phone calls were passing over our network, one-third of the Italian population using our network.” says Renzo Ravaglia, CEO of FibreConnect.
The fiber optic backbone will connect the main national strategic nodes to distribute, in a more capillary way, connectivity in the Industrial and Artisan Areas that are not yet reached by an Ultra Broadband service today.
This milestone represents only the beginning of a larger project that will involve the entire national territory, including the Islands, and that through the partnership of ISPs, both local and national, aims to contribute to the development of the Italian economy
